The expert panel will be comprised of a diverse group of stakeholders, including health insurance industry leaders, employers, health care providers, and consumer advocates, and will be charged with developing robust but workable standards for health plan internal and external appeals.

ClearHealth Quality InstituteTM (CHQI) announces today the formation of its Telemedicine Accreditation Standards Committee. The 15-member panel, comprised of a wide range of independent experts representing industry, clinical and consumer perspectives, is tasked with crafting a set of robust but workable standards to ensure safety, quality and value in the rapidly growing telemedicine field. In May, the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) and CHQI announced a joint venture to develop a comprehensive set of quality and operational standards to promote the best practice of Telemedicine.

ClearHealth Quality Institute™ (CHQI) – a new accreditation organization that develops standards incorporating the next generation of quality and outcome measures – is establishing comprehensive accreditation standards to promote compliance with mental health parity laws. Parity means that health insurance plans must cover mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment the same way they cover treatment for physical health conditions.

Organizations offering telemedicine services throughout the entire continuum of care, including both provider-to-provider and provider-to-patient telehealth consultations, will benefit from this new tool and may now create an account to receive the latest information detailing CHQI’s accreditation application process.
